In the distant future, Melior, a teenaged boy orphaned in a devastating nuclear war, rescues a strange and remarkable android named William. In gratitude, William hopes to lead Melior safely through the dangers of a war-ravaged city. They have thirty-six hours before a protective shield provided for the boy by the android will fade and expose Melior to deadly radiation.
