Grade 9 Up–This concluding volume in the trilogy is the best of the bunch. Kirsten Sawyer, still recovering from her best friend's murder, is attending NYU. A mere five hours into college life, she witnesses a girl falling from a balcony at the student union. The death is ruled a suicide, but Kirsten is sure that she saw Sam's killer on the same balcony at the time of the girl's fall. Other strange incidents take place and an already paranoid Kirsten becomes convinced that she will be the next victim. The multiple plot twists will keep readers engaged until the very end. Because the party life takes a back seat to the crime, Last Call reads more like a mystery than the previous series entries. The book can stand on its own, but readers will likely want to read the other two to fill in the blanks.–Michele Capozzella, Chappaqua Public Library, NY
